The Muir Ford refurbishment project transforms an existing motor vehicle showroom. The Fennessy motor vehicle dealership had been a long standing and highly recognised retail car dealership in Busselton for generations. The current owners required a change to modernise the existing façade and recognise the new Ford dealership.
Stage 1 focused on the external presentation with removal of the existing façade and construction of the new fresh rebranded façade and entryway. All works were completed whilst maintaining security and keeping the dealership operational.
The demolition component consisted of removal of two sides of the existing shopfront, the entry door and adjoining external brickwork, brick paving and the pylon sign posting at the driveway entrance.
The construction works required both a new front façade and the refurbishment of a portion of the existing building, a new undercover area, new shopfront windows, glazed showroom wall and front entry. Concrete access pathways and footings for a new free-standing pylon sign was also completed.
The construction involved new structural steel façade trusses, beams and columns, new brick piers for the new fascia, additional roofing for the extension between the existing and new fascia and a mix of sand rendering and ACM/FC cladding to provide separation elements. An important element was ensuring the steelwork was fabricated to facilitate the efficient attachment of the stage 2 works.
