The Lou Weston Facility sporting precinct has been an active recreational space within the City of Busselton since the 1960s. The project had multiple stakeholders and constructed a new sports pavilion as part of a renewed outdoor court facility for community, recreation and sporting activities.
Innovest Construction was awarded the contract for a two phase project, involving the demolition of the existing pavilion and the construction and fitout of the new Lois Hannay Pavilion.
The first phase involved physical demolition of the existing pavilion, clearance of refuse and completion of siteworks to create an appropriate site for the construction of the new facility. The new pavilion consisted of the construction of a new building with open activity space, a kitchenette and catering area, shared storage area for multiple user groups, toilets facilities (including disabled) and an external verandah and viewing area. New public toilets and an upgrade to the sewer and power was also required.
The building construction utilised integrated galvanised steel columns with jarrah timber infill, brickwork and render and use of exposed aggregate in the viewing area.
